John Sackar

John Sackar is a former judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. He sat in the Equity Division.

In 2025 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the judiciary, and to the law.

Prior to his appointment in 2011 he had a wide and diverse practice in commercial matters, including banking, insurance and consumer law, and also practiced in the field of defamation.  Mr Sackar practised as a Queens Counsel for nearly twenty-five years prior to his appointment and appeared in all Courts in Australia at trial and appellate levels. He was called to Middle Temple in the UK in 2006 and regularly appeared in Courts in Brunei and in the Privy Council in London. He is an associate member of 6 Pump Court Chambers in London.

Neil Williams

Neil Williams came to the Bar in 1989 and was appointed Senior Counsel in 2001. He appeared in a wide range of major cases both at first instance and on appeal including, major environmental and planning issues, major tax matters, major constitutional issues, a wide range of general administrative law matters, competition and consumer law matters, broadcasting matters, and criminal appeals. He appeared in all Australian jurisdictions, the Solomon Islands, Fiji and Nauru.

He now does advising work in those fields.

Antony Whitlam

Tony was admitted to the NSW Bar in 1967 and took silk in 1986. He was a Judge of the Federal Court of Australia from 1993 to 2005, where he presided in all practice areas of the Court. He was also an additional Judge of the ACT Supreme Court, where he sat in civil and criminal proceedings.

After retiring from judicial service, Tony returned to practice at the Bar until June 2024. 

He is now available for mediations and arbitrations.

Tom Bathurst

Tom Bathurst was called to the bar in 1977 and appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1987.

He was a member of the Australian Government Takeovers, Mergers and Corporate Reconstructions Panel between 2006 and 2011.

He served as President of the Australian Bar Association between 2008 and 2010 and as President of the NSW Bar Association from 2009 to 2011.

Tom served as Chief Justice of New South Wales from 1 June 2011 until his retirement on 5 March 2022.

He was made a Companion of the Order of Australia in 2014 and was elected an Honorary Bencher of the Middle Temple in 2016.

In 2019 he received an Honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Sydney.

2015-2022 Chair of the Judicial Section of LAWASIA.

Chair of the NSW Law Reform Commission from 1 June 2022.

Appointed an International Judge of the Singapore International Commercial Court on 5 October 2022.

In April 2023 Tom was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star by the Government of Japan for his contribution to strengthening ties between Japan and Australia and the promotion of mutual understanding in the judicial field.
