Kristina is a leading commercial and public law silk specialising in commercial, corporate, revenue, regulatory, environmental and public law matters and inquiries.

Commercial and corporate law/regulatory matters: Kristina has regularly appeared in proceedings involving complex commercial disputes and regulatory issues. She recently appeared in the WA Supreme Court representing Wright Prospecting Pty Ltd and others in the claim brought by Julian Wright. She also was involved acting for Crown Sydney Property Pty Ltd in the Barangaroo Sight Lines dispute, represented Griffin Energy Group in a long running dispute brought by Lanco Resources Australia Pty Ltd in the WA Supreme Court, represented Hobart and Launceston Airports in the recent dispute against two Tasmanian councils and has acted in a number of regulatory matters including ASIC v Westpac, ASIC v O’Sullivan, ACCC v Viagogo AG and ACCC v Productivity Partners t/a Captain Cook College. She has also been involved in a number of matters relating to pharmaceutical regulation acting for both the drug companies and the regulator, and in numerous health discipline cases, including recently Grygiel and von Marburg.

Revenue law: Kristina appears for both the Commissioner and the taxpayer in revenue matters. She represented the Commissioner in the transfer pricing case of Glencore and in the High Court in Bywater v Commissioner of Taxation. She has also been involved in numerous cases concerning R&D including Mt Owen v Innovation Australia and has been involved in a number of GST cases including in the FFC in ATS Pacific v Commissioner of Taxation and recently in the tribunal in Cashworld Gold Buyers v Commissioner of Taxation.

Public Law and Inquiries: Kristina appears in a range of public law matters including planning and environmental, immigration, search warrants and FOI. She appeared on behalf of the AHRC in the recent High Court matter of Smethurst, and has been involved in a number of High Court public law cases including SZVFW, SZIZO, Gedeon and Momcilovic. She has also been involved as counsel assisting recently in two judicial commission matters, and regularly acts as counsel assisting in inquests and fire inquiries.

Kristina is ranked as a leading silk in Dispute Resolution by Chambers in both the Asia Pacific and Global editions.

Kristina graduated from Melbourne University with a first class honours degree in law then completed a Ph D in Cambridge University before lecturing at King’s College and University College London. She spent 10 years at the London Bar where she appeared in the House of Lords on a number of occasions, acted as junior counsel for the UK Government in the Hutton Inquiry and was ranked as one of the top juniors by Legal 500.
