SENIOR COUNSEL

Brent was admitted to practice in 2009 and called to the bar in 2015.  He practises primarily in commercial disputes, including matters involving contracts, misleading and unconscionable conduct, restitution, equity and trusts, corporations, partnerships, and negligence.  He also accepts briefs in other areas, including torts, inquiries, and public law.

Among other clients, Brent has acted for property developers, mining companies, defence contractors, financial services providers, telecommunications companies, manufacturers, software developers, trustees and responsible entities, investors, retail and wholesale businesses, lessors, builders, education providers, statutory bodies, employers and employees, directors, solicitors, associations, and professional bodies.

Previously, Brent practised as a solicitor in dispute resolution at King & Wood Mallesons and was a judge’s associate in the NSW Court of Appeal.  He has also taught civil procedure, evidence, torts, and advocacy at the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney.  He is the author of a number of articles, several of which have been cited by Australian courts.  He holds degrees from the University of New South Wales, the University of Sydney, and Columbia Law School.
