Brent has a broad commercial and equity practice, including disputes involving contracts, trusts, corporations and partnerships, funds and managed investment schemes, confidentiality and restraint of trade, real property, and negligence.

Brent has acted for trustees and responsible entities, fund managers, financial services providers, investors, property developers, defence manufacturers, telecommunications companies, software developers, mining companies, education providers, builders, statutory corporations and public authorities, lessors and lessees, directors, solicitors, associations and professional bodies.

Previously, Brent practised as a solicitor in litigation at Mallesons and was a judge’s associate in the NSW Court of Appeal.  He has also taught civil procedure, evidence, torts, and advocacy at the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney.  He is the author of a number of articles, several of which have been cited by Australian courts.  He holds degrees from the University of New South Wales, the University of Sydney, and Columbia Law School.
